Ms Elsa is a full-time private tutor in Singapore. She has more than 10 years of teaching experience in Mathematics and Science. She was formerly a Ministry of Education (MOE) teacher, MOE Teaching Award scholar and an ex-tutor in a reputable tuition centre. She teaches a wide range of students from Primary 1 to Junior College and is familiar with the subject syllabus at different levels. With a firm belief in building up key fundamental concepts, she is always ready to clarify her students' misconceptions to ensure they understand and appreciate learning at the same time. She also believes in providing regular feedback to both students and parents to help her students strive for excellence.
Our small group tuition are similar to individual lessons, catered to individual student abilities. Materials are customized to each student's abilities. Lessons are effective, easy to understand and have proven results.
Teaching Methodology
Ms Elsa strongly believes in helping students build up their fundamentals and achieve a solid foundation in their understanding of key concepts. She does this through a variety of teaching methods and customizes them according to her student's learning ability.
Having analyzed, diagnosed and rectified countless students' misconceptions, Ms Elsa is able to anticipate common student pitfalls and engages them through activities. She also gives "surprise" tests and verbal quizzes to train their confidence in solving both examination and real-world problems. Occasionally, her students stare at her as if she is some magician with super powers whenever she clarifies their doubts. "Cher, you make it seem so easy", they say. Ms Elsa, however, feels she still has much more to learn, as learning is a life-long process.

Back in 2005, I was taught by Ms Elsa in Primary 5 and 6. My scores improved tremendously under her tutelage. She was very patient in going through the practice questions with me. Ample practices of varying difficulties were also given to me to hone my skills in tackling the exam papers. I am glad I also gained a deeper appreciation of the subjects through the process! As a result of her guidance, I did enough for my PSLE to enter my dream school.

Under Teacher Elsa’s guidance, I have learnt many study tips and techniques such as having a math and science journal. Teacher Elsa has taught me to jot down important key words and concepts, as well as common misconceptions in my Math and Science journal. The Math and Science journal has been very effective as I can refer to it as and when I like, and is useful for before-exam revision. Another beneficial studying technique that Teacher Elsa has taught me is doing mindmaps. By summarising important key information of a certain chapter in just one page, it has been very useful for recapping. Lastly, Teacher Elsa has also taught me to do reflections after every session. This is especially helpful in my learning as by identifying my mistakes, I can learn from them and change it in no time. These study tips and techniques have been practical and have assisted in my learning.

She is able to remind and encourage us to constantly focus on working on our weaknesses. I have found myself more aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I have learnt that along with Teacher Elsa’s guidance, I need to put in substantial effort to see the real improvement. I have understood that as long you put in effort and are able to identify your weak areas, improvement would not be difficult to achieve.
